June First. What I affectionately refer to as the first unofficial day of Summer. Only 40 days until our summer programs start.
Quite a bit has been happening at Camp in the last few days and weeks. We just wrapped up our Memorial Day Work Weekend, one of our most successful yet! It included cutting a new nature trail, hanging sound boards, and more weed whacking than you could possibly imagine. All accomplished in the pouring rain.
We want to send out a big thank you to everyone who gave up their time and energy to help us prepare our grounds, you keep us going with your efforts and I cannot wait to show them off to all of our summer guests.
We are really looking forward to this summer. Not only are camps coming up, but we get the opportunity to host an ABW conference this month and are planning both "Camp Prom" and our 65th Anniversary (stay tuned to our social media for updates). All challenging events to plan and run but everything worth doing has its challenging elements.
Speaking of challenges. We are still looking for volunteers to help with summer programs. Whether your skills are in working with youth, grounds keeping, or even cleaning up, we would love to have you out here. The first step to getting involved is letting us know by emailing contact@campbethel.net. Hours spent volunteering at camp can count as community service (if you need hours to graduate or to put on those college resumes).
Or, if volunteering isn't your style but you want to support camp in these next few months, we are looking for donors to support our scholarship fund and to support our grounds upkeep, the next project we are funding for is the garden in front of our new lodge which will include a rock garden that campers will get to add to every year. For more information on either, you can send me an email or go straight to the donate button on our main page and help fund a project. We are so grateful to everyone who gives so much of themselves so we can provide amazing outdoor programs and spaces to everyone.
See you next month for summer camps!
